Callings!

Kirk and I started volunteering for things the first week we were in the ward! Our first sacrament there the Relief Society President was sitting behind us, tapped me on the shoulder and asked if one of us would sit with the family behind her because the sister was alone and her 4 kids were being rowdy. So I went back and sat between her kids but I dont think she liked it because she didnt look at me or say thank you when sacrament ended! Oh well! Pretty soon after that I got the calling of Visiting Teaching Supervisor over one of the groups/districts of about 10 or 12 girls. My mom also had that calling so she helped me out! I try to send out a newsletter at the beginning of each month and make calls, emails, and texts as reminders! The Relief Society and Bishop are big into Visiting Teaching and the important of watchcare of the sisters.
Within the first few months Kirk got the calling of Sunday School President which is pretty cool! The youth are starting a new curriculum January 2013 so he holds some meetings at our house with the teachers and his presidency! He gets to go to lots of meetings! We also get to sit in on a few different sunday school classes to make sure things are running smoothly and one of our favorites to sit in is the Marriage class. Its mostly for couple that are invited to attend by the bishop but I thing everyone should go through the lessons of this class! We always learn something good! Kirk's secretary that was just called recently in inactive and he's been attending church and Kirk's meetings so its really helping him!  We suspect we'll be in the ward about 2 years or so, so we'll get to serve a lot!

San Antonio #2 & Brian Reagan

The end of the summer finally came and we STUFFED our little Acura TL with everything we owned to drive back to AZ! We had to leave a few things behind that wouldnt fit but i was impressed with Kirk's talent for situating everything to make it fit! We couldnt even see out of the rear view mirror! We left on a saturday at about 4pm and i wanted to show Kirk San Antonio so we drove straight there and got there at about 6pm!

We walked up to the Alamo, took a pic in front of it, turned around and they closed it...right...in...front of us! I was so bummed Kirk didnt get to see inside :(

We walked around the River Walk and some of the attractions like Ripley's believe it or not and the wax museum! As we were walking down the sidewalk we noticed a lot of people gathered around! We looked up and saw a poster that said the comedian Brian Reagan was coming to town...we thought thats cool! Then noticed the date August 18...which was today!! So we went into the ticket office just to check and just to our luck they had 2 tickets available...in the middle...in the 6th row! So, we bought them!! And had about 15 minutes to find out seats! It was in the historic Majestic theater! It was the most beautiful and detailed theater ive ever seen! The show was hilarious and when it ended we went outside to a heavy rainstorm...and we parked like 5 blocks away! So we ran thru the streets and puddles       to our car! We spent the next 2 hours soaking wet, driving to the hotel my dad got us!
The next morning we left and spent about 15 hours driving home to AZ in which 10 of those were spent reading to Kirk the book Rich Dad Poor Dad! We learned a lot!

Summertime Fun

During the summer the girls and I did a lot together! Our husbands were gone everyday working all day so we spent most of our time doing things together! We would usually go to the pool a few times a week and sometimes make plans to go other places! A few of those things were the Houston zoo, museums, the mall, out to eat usually for birthdays, crafts, movie days, games, Ikea, we had a few progressive lunches with games a get to know you questions, we had a boot camp the josie and katie held to kick our butts, Bachelorette night every monday night til she picked our favorite Jef, we watched the Olympics in London, Brooke Mickelson (regional managers wife) took us all bowling, the Katy Mills outlet mall, and every Saturday night when the guys hit their sales goals for the week the girls would meet our husbands at a restaurant in the area/city they were working in paid for by Vivint! It was always fun to look forward to at the end of the week!

San Antonio Trip #1 & the Alamo

The last week most of us girls were in Houston we planned a trip to San Antonio! We woke up early, drove about 2 and a half hours there and spent all day walking around! We went and saw the Alamo which was cool to see and walked around the streets! Under the main roads is the River Walk...its little restaurants and shops that line a little river going through the city! Its so cute and a huge tourist attraction! We had fun and i bought a few things like lunch, a blanket, a Texas ornament (my goal is to get a christmas ornament from every place we go)!
After walking around we went to a HUGE free, local pool! It used to be a river opening that they closed off! We were exhausted and made it home just in time for dark and our husbands coming home!
